Pilgrimage

More than just a hike

Retreat and reflection on a pilgrimage through the Stubaital

On the subject of pilgrimage, most people think of the famous Way of St. James to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. To experience this meditative and cleansing way of walking first-hand, you don’t have to travel long distances. By now, there are several pilgrim routes, some of which also lead through Mieders. The beautiful thing about a pilgrimage is that it is not only about hiking and covering kilometer after kilometer, but also about learning to rediscover and orient oneself. If you treat yourself to a relaxing break between stages, you will master all paths full of energy and joy.

Going slow off the pilgrim routes at Hotel Serles in Mieders

We at Hotel Serles have a lot to offer for pilgrims to provide them with fresh energy for the next stage. One night can already be enough to recover. A regenerating full-body massage or a foot massage feel especially nice. Culinary delights are added on top of that, at the multi-course dinner with wine recommendations from our wine expert Thomas or the rich breakfast buffet in the morning.

At the Hotel Serles spa area, pilgrims can find an indoor pool to relax their muscles in the well-tempered water. Finnish sauna, aroma steam bath and relaxation room complete the pleasant hours in our spa area. You wish to do something nice for your skin? Treat yourself to a beauty treatment. Relaxing on the terrace and feeling the sun on your skin? This, too, is recreation for body, mind and soul. We recommend to book massage and cosmetic packages before arrival in order to be able to guarantee your desired times during a short-term stay.

Pilgrim routes through Mieders im Stubaital

Romedius Pilgrimage Trail from Tyrol to Italy
The Romedius Pilgrimage Trail starts at the Romedikirchl church in Thaur and ends at the San Romedio Pilgrimage Church in the Val di Non in Italy. A good condition and surefootedness are prerequisites to follow this beautiful route from North Tirol to South Tyrol and finally to Trentino. Mieders im Stubaital is a perfect stop to recover from the exertions of walking. The pilgrimage route goes up to 2,700 meters and of course also includes our Stubai pilgrimage site Maria Waldrast. The first stage from Thaur to Mieders takes approx. 7 hours and is also part of the “Quo Vadis Pilgrimage Trail”. It directly leads to the village center of Mieders. After one or more relaxing nights here at Hotel Serles, the “Quo Vadis Pilgrimage Trail” (Kapellenweg) takes you up the mountain in the direction of Maria Waldrast. The second stage continues into the valley via the toboggan run and from the “Trinsersteig” to the Antonius Chapel. The village center of Trins marks the end of this stage.

Quo Vadis Pilgrimage Trail from Innsbruck to Maria Waldrast at the Stubaital

The starting point of the Quo Vadis Pilgrimage Trail is the impressive St. James’ Cathedral in Innsbruck. This 21-kilometer pilgrimage trail makes it possible for guests to go on a day tour for contemplation and reflection. From Innsbruck, the trail goes through Natters, Mutters, Telfes, Mieders and finally up to Maria Waldrast. The special thing about this pilgrim route is the combination of urban city life in the provincial capital of Innsbruck and the quiet retreat in the natural surroundings of the Stubaital. “Walking is the best medicine”, Hippocrates.
